28/7/19 – Lyscombe Bottom

I was supposed to be wandering around some archaeological sites with Claire Pinder, the County Archaeologist, today at Lyscombe Bottom.

Unfortunately, after a mile-long sprint uphill to get to the site, well maybe not a sprint but much faster than my usual fieldwalking/metal detecting amble, I was lagging behind and my hip was screaming at me to stop.

Despite being drugged up with Codeine I knew I would only hold the other people up if I continued, so reluctantly told Claire that I was heading back to the car 😕

A real shame as, if I knew we were going to sprint up hills, I’d have cancelled the day (and gone on a gentle days metal detecting near Cadbury Castle instead)…
