25/7/19 – Finds Liaison Officer

My Pilgrim’s Ampulla find is safely in the hands of Ciorstaidh (pronounced “Kirsty” for the uninitiated), the Finds Liaison Officer for Dorset. She’ll record it and enter all the details on the British Museum’s Portable Antiquities database.
Whilst talking to Ciorstaidh, I also had a conversation with Claire Pinder, the Dorset Senior Archaeologist about the Historic Environment Records team.
The scheme has been on the ‘back-burner’ whilst the council amalgamations and reorganisation has taken place, but Parish Council secretaries are about to be contacted to update the details of their Records Officer and get the scheme moving again 😊
P.S. After recording I will donate the Ampulla to the Dorset County Museum.
